K-12 EDUCATION IN BOSSIER-SHREVEPORT

The Bossier-Shreveport area is home to two public school systems.
Caddo Parish & Bossier Parish school systems are honored to host:
  • 121 Kindergarten thru 12th grade schools

In addition to the traditional programs, the region provides various other educational choices such as Magnet systems, science- and religion-based programs, and independent study programs. Local school offerings for both K thru 12th grade students consist of:

  • Nearly 92% of all school-age children in the parish attend Bossier Schools, earning it the distinction of being the fastest growing public school district in north Louisiana.
  • The Senior Class of 2023 was offered more than $34.2 million in college scholarships and TOPS funding.
  • Students accrued nearly 7,000 college credit hours in 2015-16 from Dual Enrollment and AP courses, a tremendous savings to parents.

  • Students earned nearly 11,500 college credit hours through Advanced Placement (AP) and Dual Enrollment courses and 3,300 Industry Based Certifications (IBCs) in Career and Technical Education programs in 2022-23.
  • Bossier Schools is nationally recognized for supporting military children, who account for 12% of the total student enrollment. Additionally, the district has the most schools in Louisiana with the Purple Star designation, a full-time Military Services Manager and Military Family Life Consultants (MFLCs).
  • A strong emphasis is placed on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math) and students are provided numerous opportunities to compete and showcase their talents.
  • Neighborhood schools are identified as Bossier Schools’ strength, with Honors and Gifted classes being offered at each school as well as the Talented Arts Program and diverse athletic and extracurricular activities.
  • Bossier Schools is home to champions, winning state and national titles in archery, basketball, Destination Imagination, Educators Rising, golf, marksmanship, rocketry, SkillsUSA and wrestling, as well as Louisiana Teacher of the Year and National Merit Scholar honors.
